Lamar K. Cheston is a Brooklyn born and bred performer. He started off singing and dancing as a a child performer and since those early days, has gone on to graduate with a degree in Drama from Hofstra University. Aside from the plethora of plays and performances while in school, Lamar also became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. As a member of their NYC A-Team (step team), he has appeared in videos for Alicia Keys and Jay-Z, performing internationally with the group.
A dynamic presence on both stage and screen, Lamar made his official Off Broadway debut in the NAACP Award winning play Black Angels Over Tuskegee and has done scores of other regional and international performances and productions, including a substantial amount of Shakespeare. On the small screen he has done commercials for the likes of WebMD and VitaCoco, and has appeared on several television shows including Viceland’s Danny’s House, a host of shows on the Investigation Discovery channel, and BRIC TV’s Brooklynification, which was an official selection at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) in 2018. Presently Lamar is gearing up to appear as “Dun” in an Atlanta run of Dominique Morisseau’s Pipeline with Horizon Theatre Company.
As a fairly humble artist, Lamar is proud of his performance accolades, but uses them as a means to continue to work hard. 2018 was a banner year for the young actor. From winning “Best Actor” in Pittsburgh (BroadwayWorld.com) for his work in Byhalia, Mississippi, to winning “Best Actor Reel” in the 2018 Success in the Arts Awards in New York, to two additional Best Actor nominations – one for the short film Shh…, the other for his stage work in The Fire this Time Festival’s This Stretch of Montpelier. Not to mention being a part of the amazing cast of the digital series Tough Love, which was nominated for a Day Time EMMY! ?
Lamar K. Cheston is an actor’s actor, an awesome teaching artist, and a forever student of the craft. He uses all forms of art to express his creativity and believes no matter what your passion is, it is your job to MAXIMIZE YOUR POTENTIAL!
